These terms govern your use of Carian. We've written them to be readable. Please take a moment with them — they matter.
1. Who we are
Carian is run by a real company. These terms bind both of us.
Carian is an experience platform for AI companionship, operated by Asteria Capital LLC, Ohio, USA. References to “Carian,” “we,” “us,” or “our” refer to this entity.
By purchasing or using Carian, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
2. Eligibility
You must be 18 or older to use Carian.
Carian is intended for adults only. You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account or purchase an experience. By using Carian, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement. Carian reserves the right to require age verification at its discretion and to terminate accounts found to be in violation of this requirement.
3. Your account
You are responsible for your account. Keep your login secure.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately at hello@carian.ai if you suspect unauthorized access. Carian is not liable for losses resulting from unauthorized account access where you have not notified us promptly.
4. Purchases and payment
Purchases are one-time. Payment is processed by Stripe. You agree to the price at checkout.
Carian offers experiences as individual purchases. There is no subscription unless explicitly offered. All prices are displayed at checkout in USD. Payment is processed by Stripe. By completing a purchase, you agree to the displayed price and confirm you have read and accepted these Terms.
Note: Stripe retains transaction records for up to 7 years as required by financial compliance law. These records are outside Carian's control and cannot be deleted upon request.
5. Refund policy
All sales are final. Café Games is free — try it first.
All purchases are final and non-refundable. By completing a purchase, you acknowledge that you have read the experience description and selected your voltage level, and you accept that no refund will be issued for change of mind or dissatisfaction.
Each experience is prepared at the moment of purchase. All sales are final.
If you experience a verified technical failure — your experience was not delivered due to a system error on Carian's part — please contact us at hello@carian.ai and we will make it right.
Café Games is available free of charge as an introduction to Carian. We encourage you to try it before purchasing a paid experience.
6. Intellectual property
Carian's prompts and experiences are ours. You're purchasing personal access, not ownership.
All content delivered by Carian — including experience prompts, setting cues, playlists, and supporting materials — is the intellectual property of Asteria Capital LLC. Your purchase grants you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the delivered content for your own private enjoyment.

You agree to use Carian only for its intended purpose — personal, private enjoyment of curated AI companion experiences. You agree not to:

Carian works with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and others. What happens there is governed by their terms, not ours.
Carian is designed to be used with third party AI platforms including Claude (Anthropic), ChatGPT (OpenAI), and Gemini (Google). Carian is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with these companies. Your use of those platforms is governed by their respective terms of service. You are solely responsible for ensuring your use of third party AI platforms complies with their respective terms of service. Carian is not responsible for the content generated by your AI companion in the course of using a Carian experience.
9. Content and emotional experience
Carian designs the frame. What happens inside it is between you and your companion.
Carian provides structured experience prompts designed to set an emotional and narrative context. The content generated by your AI companion in response to these prompts is outside Carian's control. Carian does not guarantee any particular emotional outcome or experience quality.
By selecting a voltage level and initiating an experience, you acknowledge that you have considered your own emotional readiness and accept responsibility for that choice. Higher voltage experiences are more likely to produce more intense content — you select your voltage and engage at your own discretion.
Carian is not a therapeutic product and does not provide mental health services, crisis intervention, or medical advice of any kind. Carian experiences are not a substitute for professional mental health support. If you are experiencing emotional distress, a mental health crisis, or thoughts of self-harm, please contact a qualified mental health professional or a crisis support service immediately. Nothing in a Carian experience should be interpreted as clinical guidance, therapeutic intervention, or professional advice of any kind.
10. Account termination
We can suspend or terminate your account for misuse. You can close your account at any time.
Carian reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account in the event of:
Termination for cause may occur without refund. For terminations not related to Terms violations, Carian will provide reasonable notice. You may close your account at any time via your account page or by contacting us at hello@carian.ai.
11. Limitation of liability
If something goes wrong, Carian's liability is limited to what you paid us.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Carian's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the platform shall not exceed the amount you paid for the experience giving rise to the claim.
Carian is not liable for:
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation of liability for certain damages — in those jurisdictions, liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
Carian is provided as-is. We do our best, but we can't guarantee everything.
Carian is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular emotional or experiential outcome will result from use.
13. Indemnification
You agree to hold Carian harmless from claims arising from your misuse of the platform.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Asteria Capital LLC and its officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your use or misuse of Carian, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.
14. Dispute resolution
If there's a dispute, we'd like to resolve it directly first. If not, it goes to arbitration.
We encourage you to contact us first at hello@carian.ai — most issues can be resolved quickly and directly.
If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, you agree that it will be resolved through binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS under its consumer arbitration rules. You waive the right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under applicable local law that cannot be contractually waived.
15. Changes to these Terms
If something meaningful changes, we'll tell you with at least 14 days notice.
Carian may update these Terms from time to time. Carian also reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the platform or any experience, feature, or content at any time. Where reasonably possible, we will provide advance notice of material discontinuations. Carian is not liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the platform or its content.
Material changes to these Terms will be communicated via email or a notice on the platform at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of Carian after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
These Terms and any rights or licenses granted under them may not be transferred or assigned by you without Carian's prior written consent. Carian may assign these Terms without restriction.
16. Export controls
You may not use Carian from any country subject to a U.S. government embargo or that has been designated by the U.S. government as a terrorist-supporting country. You represent and warrant that you are not located in any such country and are not listed on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties, including the Treasury Department's list of Specially Designated Nationals or the Department of Commerce Denied Persons List.
